Message from Organizing Secretary
Dear Members and Friends,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Haematocon-2023, the 64th Annual Conference of Indian Society of Haematology and Blood Transfusion (ISHBT), which will be organised in Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha state, from November 2 to November 5, 2023.
Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha - also known as Temple City - is in itself a unique amalgamation and continuity of the glorious culture and past heritage of not only the state but also the country as a whole with modernity and development. This setting, in fact, perfectly correlates with the field of Haematology which while keeping with the basics has witnessed profound advances in understanding of blood diseases, adopting technological advances and bringing futuristic innovations. Blood diseases account for a major chunk of public health burden in India and across the globe. The governments at the centre and state have initiated various programmes at their level for prevention, management and control of blood diseases, but there are miles to go in ensuring proper care reaches all.
Indian Society of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, the apex body of haematologists in India, has thus taken the lead to play a proactive role in not only education and therapeutic interventions but also helping governments, policy makers and other stakeholders to shape policies and strategies for dealing with the public health issues. It has also gained fame globally as a premier organization in the field.
The 64th Haematocon-2023 also sets a new chapter as it is for the first time being organised directly by the ISHBT and not through the regional chapters. The conference promises to be a productive and stimulating event as it will bring together the best in the field from India and abroad. While focusing on expanding the horizons of Haematology in education, medical practice and emerging issues in the country, it will provide a platform for a conglomeration of ideas and knowledge. This will also provide an unmissable opportunity to the young and budding haematologists to learn from eminent national and international faculty and upgrade their skills.
The event is being designed to provide exciting and productive involvement for each and every participant.
